first World Conference on the Right to Education in Amsterdam, 26. - 30th November

The European Association for Education Law and Policy (ELA), in conjunction
with the American ELA and other international counterparts worldwide, is
organizing the first World Conference on the Right to Education. The
Conference is being held from 26-30 November 2004 in Amsterdam and Tilburg
(Netherlands).

The World Conference 2004 aims at assessing the current state of education
in the world. Convened under the auspices of the Ministry of Education of
the Netherlands, holding at that time the Presidency of the European Council
of Ministers of Education, the Conference will bring together education law
experts, political leaders, key members of governments and civil society
worldwide.

The broad outlines of the Conference consist of several plenary sessions, structured to provide a maximum amount of information exchange and interaction between participants on the following topics:
- Education as a Human Right
- Access and Equity in Education
- Ensuring Equal Educational Opportunities
- The "cost" of Education
- Safety in Education
- Religion in Education
- Diversity in Education

The conference is a gathering of high level experts, key decision-makers and policy makers for adressing issues of key importance for promoting the right of education.
